ABSTRACT: This thesis is concerned with finding an ending IN and OF dance works. In the first part of my work, I am raising the question of dramaturgical ending IN a dance piece and its function regarding the whole work. I am aiming to answer these questions by looking into the concept of dramaturgy and its development within theatre, performance and dance contexts, and further by analysing three different dance works. In the second part of the paper, I am looking into the notion of repeatability of dance works, their capacity of being performed over and over, as well as being reworked by different choreographers, and how do these aspects challenge the identity of the work and its authorship. The third part of this thesis is concerned with finding the ending OF dance works, where I refer to the dance preservation and the creation of artistic legacies. There I am looking into existing methods of preserving dance works and artistic legacies, and the function of preservation.
