ABSTRACT: Dance, a performative art rooted in tradition, is renowned for showcasing perfection and beauty to its audience. While spectators witness flawless performances, only dancers comprehend the concealed challenges and the true effort required to attain such perfection. There are many unspoken struggles faced by dancers behind the scenes, shedding light on the misconceived notion that thinness equates to beauty and success. The relentless pursuit of this ideal imposes significant stress on dancers and the possibility of developing a negative relationship with their bodies. Addressing body dissatisfa ction within the dance community is a significant concern, with various factors in dance education and professional practice influencing individuals' perceptions of their appearance. Elements such as mirrors, attire, peer and teacher feedback, and perfecti onism play pivotal roles in shaping these perceptions. All these aspects have a great impact on developing mental health issues, leading to eating disorders, which severely affect dancers on both mental and physical levels. Consequently, there is a critica l need to enhance positive body image perceptions among dancers and prioritize comprehensive mental health care within the dance industry
