Abstract (eng)
The aim of this study is to investigate the preventive effects of Pilates exercise for contemporary
dancers. The main research question is to determine whether Pilates exercise has value as an
adjunctive exercise. Among contemporary dancers, the major injury parts are reported to be in
the lower extremities, particularly the ankles and knees. This study examines the factors and
causes of injuries and, by suggesting appropriate exercise directions, aims to investigate the
effects of Pilates exercise and validate its effectiveness through previous studies on exercise
rehabilitation. The conclusion of this study suggests that Pilates exercise can help reduce ankle
instability and improve functional range of motion, indicating its impact on other joints as well
according to the principles of the muscle chain. Therefore, Pilates exercise demonstrates utility
as a rehabilitation or injury prevention program for lower extremity injuries.
