Abstract (eng)
The obligatory need for amplification introduces modularity to the electric guitar. Through control modules on the guitar, amplifiers and sound processing periphery the instrument expands sonically and spatially, becoming a network of sonic tools. As such the electric guitar appears intimately tied to electroacoustics, opening up the instrument to adapting the aesthetics of electronic and electroacoustic music beyond the conventional timbres of guitar. The present thesis aims to establish a holistic conception of the electric guitar and all of its periphery as one meta-instrument, providing perspectives for improvisers and composers.
