ABSTRACT: Starting with the motivation behind learning and creativity – it is to survive. Learning is about finding balance between absorbing new knowledge and forgetting old one, which is blocked by comfort zone. Creativity is the ability to form new thoughts. The teacher has to encourage a student to find creative solutions, which is a new way of learning. I agree with Sigman’s faster learning and strong synapses idea and Koestler’s bisociation model of creativity, but disagree with Socrates (believing all knowledge is within us), Koestler’s learning from more complex to less complex and last; the idea that imitation and comfort zone block creativity. Two phenomena help in learning, when one uses the knowledge to create new ideas. Breaking the comfort zone creates a mismatch in known information, which is the ground for creative innovation. I propose few methods on how to motivate creativity: Guilford’s divergent thinking, personalistic approach to teaching and developing the idea of a mature pedagogue, who knows how to develop positive atmosphere in a dance class. Lastly, in chapters seven and eight I will explain proactive teaching methods, which means having a motivating, encouraging and responsible approach to teaching.
